CHESS (a health enablement solutions company based in High Point) and Goshen Medical Center (GMC) announced Monday that they have joined into a long-term partnership that will assist the Faison-based medical group in transitioning its healthcare delivery model from one based on fee-for-service (volume-based) to one rooted in pay-for-performance (value-based).
“As healthcare reimbursements migrate to payment models based on quality, outcomes and cost, we expect our work with CHESS to help us stay ahead of the curve,” said Dr. Greg Bounds, Chief Executive Officer of GMC. “Through numerous client implementations, CHESS has demonstrated it has the experience and knowledge required to guide health systems on the journey to value. We believe a partnership with CHESS will enable us to improve the quality of care and reduce the cost of caring for patients located across our eastern North Carolina service area.”
Dr. James Hoekstra, CHESS Chief Business Development Officer and Vice President for Network Clinical Affairs at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center said, “The partnership with GMC will focus on identifying populations of patients, particularly those with serious or chronic health conditions, then developing programs designed to improve the health and quality of life of these patients. We also will leverage data to identify patients with gaps in care (those requiring check-ups and screenings), and assist GMC in fine-tuning its models of care to focus on early intervention, prevention and reduced hospitalizations.”
